Privacy Policy for AffinityVoice
Last updated: May 1, 2026
AffinityVoice is an Android application that can read supported message notifications aloud for conversations the user has explicitly configured.
What AffinityVoice accesses
AffinityVoice may access:
Android notification content from supported messaging apps, only after the user enables Notification Access
Message text, sender/title information, app/package name, and notification timestamps from those notifications
App settings such as speech rate, pitch, assigned voice, tagged conversations, and Auto-Read preferences
User-selected import files when the user manually chooses an SMS Backup & Restore XML file
What AffinityVoice does not access
AffinityVoice does not request or use:
READ_SMS
RECEIVE_SMS
Telephony provider access
Default SMS app privileges
How data is used
AffinityVoice uses notification and message data only to:
Detect incoming messages for tagged conversations
Match messages to the correct configured conversation
Store messages locally for in-app viewing
Optionally speak messages aloud through the app’s text-to-speech feature
Process user-selected import files when the user manually imports a supported backup file
Data storage and sharing
AffinityVoice processes message and settings data on the device.
AffinityVoice does not send notification-derived message content to a remote server.
AffinityVoice does not sell personal data.
AffinityVoice does not share message content with third parties for advertising.
User control
Users can:
Revoke Notification Access at any time in Android settings
Disable Auto-Read at any time inside the app
Choose which conversations are tagged for notification matching
Stop speech playback at any time
Clear local app data using Android system settings
Uninstall the app to remove app-local data from the device
Data retention and deletion
AffinityVoice keeps working message state and settings locally on the user’s device.
The app does not currently provide a hosted account or cloud deletion workflow because notification-derived message content is not uploaded to an AffinityVoice server.
Users may delete local app data through Android system settings or uninstall the app.
Security
AffinityVoice relies on Android’s system-level Notification Access permission. Notification Access must be enabled by the user in Android settings before live notification reading can work.
Notification-derived message content is handled locally on the device and is not transmitted to a remote AffinityVoice server.
Changes
This policy may be updated as AffinityVoice adds features such as expanded local persistence, broader messaging support, or hosted services. Updates will be posted on this page.
